2016 Property Tax Collections Open

The Constitutional Tax Collector is now accepting 2016 Property Tax payments for Palm Beach County properties. Owners can pay taxes online at www.pbctax.com.

2016 Property Tax Highlights:

  • Property owners should check their mailboxes today. Tax bills will begin arriving on Monday, October 31. Gannon’s office mailed 693,983 tax bills to Palm Beach County property owners.
  • The total billing for 2016 Property Taxes is over $3.62 billion.
  • Most property tax bills are public record. The public can search property tax bills and payment history by owner name, property control number, mailing address or property address. Visit the online search at payment center at www.pbctax.com to view, print or pay property tax bills.
  • 71,056 people paid their 2015 Property Taxes online. The Tax Collector wants to encourage more property owners to use the online payment system in 2016. New this year: property owners can now use an international billing address to pay property taxes online.

Early Payment Perks:

Paying property taxes early has its benefits, especially for your bottom line. There’s a 4% discount for Property Tax bills paid in November. The discount drops to 3% in December, 2% in January and 1% in February. There is no discount for property tax bills paid in March. 2016 Property Taxes become delinquent April 1, 2017.

Online Payments:

The Constitutional Tax Collector upgraded its property tax online payment system just in time for property tax season. Electronic checks (eChecks) are free. The online system also accepts all major credit cards (convenience fees are collected by the vendor and not retained by the agency). Online payments are processed within three business days.

Mailed Payments:

The majority of property owners still pay property tax bill by mail and most pay in November. This influx slows down payment processing. During peak property tax season, it takes 10 to 12 business days to process a paper check. Add in the time it takes for postal service delivery, and it takes three weeks or longer for payments to post. If there is an error with a paper check, the return time is six to eight weeks.

Other Payment Options:

  • Bank online check (bank or bill pay service)
  • Wire transfer
  • Drop box (located at each Tax Collector Service Center)
  • In person at a Tax Collector Service Center
